چکیده
Wrasses are among the most interesting and numerically abundant fish families widely distributed in deep coastal marine waters. A survey was undertaken to study diversity of labrids along southwest coast India between December 2020 January 2022. total 98 specimens belonging family Labridae were collected during period, including nine species classified under five genera. The included Cheilinus chlorourus, Halichoeres timorensis, marginatus, zeylonicus, Labroides dimidiatus, Stethojulis trilineata, interrupta, Thalassoma lunare jansenii. identified through morphological studies DNA barcoding using mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I (COI) gene. analyses aimed document molecular variations from different localities. resultant data compared with identifications additional sequence GenBank. results concluded that generated mtDNA sequences wrasses matched closely available studied nested clades nearest related low Pairwise distances. recommends stock assessment India, as they heavily exploited for both food ornamental species.

متن کاملHighlighting Astyanax Species Diversity through DNA Barcoding
DNA barcoding has been used extensively to solve taxonomic questions and identify new species. Neotropical fishes are found in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, with a large number of species yet to be described, many of which are very difficult to identify. Characidae is the most species-rich family of the Characiformes, and many of its genera are affected by taxonomic uncertainties, includi...

The work was aimed to study the microbial quality of the seafood sold in the domestic markets and incidence of Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Samples comprising of shellfish, finfish, and cephalopods were collected from various fish markets in and around Cochin. Presumed V. parahaemolyticus were identified by standard biochemical tests, and further confirmed by polymerase chain reaction targeting spe...
متن کاملProductivity of the Arabian Sea along the Southwest Coast of India
Monsoon plays a critical role in triggering environmental features such as seawater temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen content and nutrient generation which in turn become responsible for production of phytoplankton and zooplankton. Along the southwest coast of India the intensity of southwest monsoon as evidenced by annual rainfall showed a declining trend during the years 1983 to 1988. A...
